2017 may have been one of the best years of my life so far. Aside from 2010, when my daughter entered my life, 2017 was right up there with the best of the best. I left an unhealthy marriage, moved to a new town, continued improving my health even further than I ever thought I would, and met a man that loves me in all the right ways. Topping that is going to be hard.
December 16th, 2017 definitely boosted the chances of 2018 being amazing. After spending all day at work and then the gym I made a quick stop at Walmart. I was feeling a little off that day so I thought dang, aunt flow must be coming. I mean, I’ve been a 30-33 day on the dot girl for the last 7 years. In the back of my mind I thought…I feel a little different, let’s grab a test.
The first rule of test taking is always take them in the morning so enough of the hormone is built up in your system to allow the test to detect it. I’m impatient and a bit stubborn, so when I got home around 7 p.m I went ahead and took the test. Seriously doubting the chances of anything but negative I let it do its thing, picked it up and….”Why are there two lines?” December 16th, 2017 I got my first positive!! For seven years I hadn’t had a positive. At one point while I was still married I was told I wasn’t ovulating because of my Hypothyroidism and my weight. I wanted another child for SO long.
I was too excited not to share with someone so of course I told my best friend, Laura (who I live with) the news! I cried, and cried and thought I need to tell Jeff!
Jeff was at work, but I couldn’t wait. I jumped in the truck, drove the 10 min to his work and asked for him at the gate. Normally I never go to see him without texting him first, which has been maybe a handful of times to bring him dinner. I waited patiently at the gate, he arrived and seemed a little worried. “Why didn’t you text me, or tell me you were coming? What’s up?” I told him I loved him and I had something to give him. I handed him the test and he kind of looked at me weird, looked down and with the BIGGEST smile, “Are you serious?” “You’re gonna be a dad.” It was the best feeling in the world to tell him.
We hugged, we kissed, we laughed, and I cried a little more. He was holding the tears in for sure.
2017 ended in the best way possible and 2018 began with a baby announcement, a closing date on our new home, and one over-the-moon excited big sister-to-be! August 22nd, 2018 all the fun begins!
My blog started out as a place to share a little bit of what works for me, things I enjoy, and sharing a little more than I normally do. Now it’s going to be all about staying fit through pregnancy, tips & tricks for baby and parents to be, and the adjustment of going from 1 to 2 with a mommy “veteran” and a brand-spanking new dad!
For the last 2 months I’ve been ranging from 189-195 depending on time of month (thanks for the LOL). My starting pregnancy weight according to my first doctors appointment is 201. Of course that might be 2-3 pounds high due to clothes, shoes, and the fact that I was wearing my parka. It’s like -20 here lately!
9 weeks down, MANY more to go!
