Easy Fluffy Slime Recipe For A Snow Day!

We’ve had plenty of snow this week. Living in Iowa it’s a normal but it seems like this year as soon as we get the roads cleared, the snow is falling again. This week along the kids have had 2 full snow days and 2 late starts. Instead of being stuck on the couch watching TV or glued to the Ipad, we made some slime.

My daughter has asked so many times to make slime, so I finally gave in. We found TONS of recipes online, but this was the easiest! Mainly because we had all the ingredients at home and we could avoid going to the store in the snow.

What you’ll need:

2/3 Cup Elmer’s Glue

1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1/4 Cup Water

2-3 Cup Shaving Cream (Not gel)

*Optional* Glitter & Food Coloring

1.5 Tablespoon Contact Lens Solution (Make sure it has Boric Acid & Sodium Borate) We used Equate brand from Walmart.

In a large bowl add glue, water, and baking soda. Mix lightly, doesn’t have to be smooth. Add in the 2-3 (we used 3) cups of shaving cream and mix. Again does not need to be smooth. Next add in the contact solution. Mix until it becomes slightly firm or harder to mix. Slime will be somewhat sticky still, no worries. Pour a small amount of contact solution on your hands and then knead the slime. After a while the slime will get less sticky and remain fluffy. Resist the urge to keep adding contact solution, this will over activate the slime. Keep kneading.

You can also add food color or glitter at this point. With the amounts above we were able to split it into 4 smaller containers so we could have multiple colors and glitters.

Happy Slime making!!
